According to The New York Times, a new (and affordable) toy is sweeping the country.  Basically, it is a “goop-filled blob” that is squeezable.  The blobs come in endless shapes and colors—the article features a stick-of-butter-shaped blob.

Reportedly, an eight-year-old who regularly resisted getting up for school hopped out of bed at 6:30 a.m so that his mother could take him to Target before school to add the latest shape to his collection.

One can’t help but think of Cabbage Patch Kids and/or Beanie Babies.

Yes, my great grandkids are addicted to these, and I was very worried when I read the Forbes report…the substance inside is toxic, can cause burns, these are not Beanie Babies, they come from China with no regulations…A strong squeeze or a hot car can cause them to burst…luckily when it happened to my great granddaughter we rushed her to cold water and she was ok.
