Moved lately?  If not, you may have forgotten that informing others of your address change is not fun.  And moving for the second time in eight months doesn’t make it any easier.

I decided to get a head start on this task on one very hot-stay-inside-day.  Luckily, I found my address changes list from my move last December.

I started with Social Security, but either my ineptness or a difficult process online (likely both) made me resort to a phone call.  Of course, I expected to wait, but they promised a call back without losing your place in line.

Two hours later, someone named Steve called me back.  I answered his long list of questions, and when we finished, I mentioned the date on which I wanted the change to happen.

Are you getting the feeling that this story might end badly?

Sure enough, when I mentioned a date a week in the future, he told me that they won’t make a change until the move is completed.

Alas, one doesn’t argue with Social Security…

I recognise something in you that I do.
When the going gets tough I journal it.
Please don’t hold back on the agonising details of this move!
    With you all the way!
